Lesser known but equally as spectacular, The California Federation Women’s Clubs Grove is a stand of ancient redwoods along the Avenue of the Giants. Open for day use, the Women’s Grove includes a picnic area and access to the Eel River. It’s an excellent stop for a peaceful stroll year-round. Unlike the other notable groves along the Ave, The Women’s Clubs Grove features a (wo)man made attraction that draws visitors to it. Built in 1933, the Hearthstone is an immense four-sided fireplace designed by renowned architect Julia Morgan honoring the Federation’s conservation efforts.
