Headwaters Forest Reserve (Southern Entrance)

The Salmon Pass Trail at the southern entrance of the 7472-acre Headwaters Forest Reserve winds through striking old- and second-growth redwoods. However, this trail is only accessible by guided tour mid May – mid July. Visit the Bureau of Land Management’s website for tour reservations.

This 50-acre retreat, in the heart of Fortuna, has miles of peaceful walking trails in second-growth redwoods and showcases native wild shrubs and herbs. Stop at the Fortuna Railroad Depot Museum near the park entrance.
River Lodge Conference Center and River Walk

The River Lodge Conference Center is located on the Eel River in sunny Fortuna. A handsome 6000 square foot building with rustic, cabin-esque design offers a sophisticated space for meetings and events. The River Walk trail, a two mile stretch beside the Eel River, is accessible from the Conference Center and boasts sweeping pastoral views of farmland and the mountains beyond.
